Tapered roller bearings are suitable for transmitting radial and axial loads. The 313 series tapered roller bearings, owing to their particularly large contact angle, are suitable for applications involving large axial loads. The 323B series tapered roller bearings also possess a relatively large contact angle.
Bearing Clearance
The axial clearance of tapered roller bearings is set during installation by adjusting the mating bearing.
Alignment
The modified contact line between the tapered roller and raceway reduces stress concentration and maintains bearing alignment.
Tolerances
Basic types of FAG tapered roller bearings employ standard tolerances (tolerance class PN). Tapered roller bearings in the 320X, 329, 330, 331, and 332 series with bore diameters up to 200 mm feature narrower width tolerances, designated as tolerance grade P6X. Wider tolerances of PN apply to larger bearings within these series, flanged bearings, and bearings in other series. Upon request, FAG can also supply high-precision tapered roller bearings, such as certain 320X series bearings with P5 dimensional tolerances, denoted by the suffix P5.
Heat Treatment
FAG tapered roller bearings subjected to heat treatment are suitable for operating temperatures below 120°C. For bearings with an outer diameter exceeding 90 mm, the temperature at which dimensions remain stable during continuous operation is 150°C. For bearings with an outer diameter exceeding 120 mm, the dimensional stability temperature is 200°C.
