The vast majority of FAG spherical plain bearings are fixed bearings, making them particularly suitable for supporting short shafts and applications where only minimal thermal expansion occurs. Minor thermal expansion of the shaft can be compensated by the axial clearance of the bearing.
Bearings fitted in different housings comprise the 162, 362, 562, and 762.2RSR series deep groove ball bearings. The first three series feature a widened inner ring. They may be secured to the shaft either by an eccentric locking collar (162 and 362 series) or by two screws (562 series). The oil-throwing protection bearings in the 362 and 562 series are protected against contamination by large particles.
