Precautions for Storage and Use of SKF Imported Bearings

Bearings are indispensable precision components in modern life, and their storage and usage must be handled with corresponding care. Regardless of how high-performance the bearings may be, improper use will prevent them from achieving their intended high performance. Precautions for the storage and use of SKF imported bearings are as follows:

I. Storage Room Requirements

1. Clean and dry.

2. Prevent air movement.

3. If the relative humidity in the storage room exceeds 75%, air conditioning is recommended.

4. Prevent vibration.

5. Maintain stable temperature (temperature variation within 48 hours should not exceed 3°C).

6. Bearings are coated with rust-preventative oil prior to dispatch. Temperatures that are too low or too high may cause the rust-preventative oil to deteriorate; room temperature should be maintained between 0-25°C.

7. Regular inspection: In accordance with rust prevention regulations for bearing products, conduct regular inspections every 10-12 months. Should rust be detected on oil-sealed packaging, reapply oil-sealed packaging.

II. Temperature and Humidity

1. Bearings may be stored long-term in their original packaging provided warehouse relative humidity does not exceed 60% and temperature fluctuations remain minimal. Exposed clean steel surfaces will not rust or corrode in clean air with relative humidity below 50%. Increased humidity heightens corrosion risk, particularly when relative humidity exceeds 75%.

2. For bearings fitted with seals or dust covers, prolonged storage may adversely affect the properties of the lubricating grease.

III. Storage of Large Bearings

Large bearings must be stored horizontally, with the entire side of the bearing ring supported. Storing them vertically risks permanent deformation due to the weight of the bearing ring and rolling elements, given the relatively thin wall thickness of the ring.

Scientific bearing storage is crucial. Improper storage leading to rusting or corrosion is undesirable. Even without visible surface damage, such issues may cause various operational failures during bearing operation. Therefore, SKF imported bearing manufacturers remind everyone to take bearing storage seriously.

“Do you see over yonder, dear client, those tricky equipment bottlenecks, those wear-and-tear troubles that stall your production? I intend to arm your machines with genuine imported bearings—and stand by with technical support to slay every glitch that comes your way.”
